Prenatal sessions are a great way to prepare for the birth of your baby. I provide you with evidence based information and education to help you feel ready and confident to meet your new family member. We will cover a range of topics in these sessions and address your questions and concerns as we discuss your options for labour and birth.
Topics include but are not limited to:
Basic Childbirth Education,
Creating a Birth Plan,
Benefits and Tradeoffs of Medical Interventions,
Breathing Techniques,
Comfort Measures for Labour,
Birthing and Greeting Baby,
Infant Feeding,
Basic Newborn Care,
Postpartum Adjustment.
Your birth experience is something that will be dear to you for a lifetime. It is my honor to be a part of this tender time in your family's life! My goal as your Birth Doula is to provide you (& birth partner) with continuous support through labour, greeting your baby and initiating feeding. I will be there with you every step of the way to make sure you (& birth partner) feel confident, comfortable, cared for and capable!
A Birth Doula Does Not:
Speak for the birthing family
Tell birthing person what they should or should not do
Replace a birth partner or support person
Provide medical/clinical support
A Birth Doula Does:
Educate the birthing parent and support partner about labour, birth, medical interventions and what questions to ask if you need more information. Essentially a birth Doula helps to facilitate communication and empowers you (& birth partner) to speak for yourselves.
Empower you to make the choices that are right for you.
Supports you with your birth partner and helps support your partner in supporting you.
Provides continuous educational, emotional & physical support while working alongside your medical team.
Postpartum Doula Care really helps to ease the transition period of welcoming a new member into your family. Even tender moments like bringing your new baby home can be overwhelming and my role is to help ease this stress and help you and your family feel confident, comfortable, cared for and capable! Essentially my goal as your Postpartum Doula is to work myself out of a job as you will come to feel at ease with your new role and no longer need my support. Everyone's transition is different and all families have unique needs so my postpartum support is extremely customizable.
What I typically provide for Postpartum Doula Care: Processing the Birth, Emotional, Physical & Practical Support for First 3 Months of a Newborn's Life, Postpartum Mental Health Education & Support, Bottle & Breastfeeding Support, Newborn Care, Newborn Soothing Techniques, Sibling Support, Providing opportunities to Rest/ Shower, Light Household Assistance, Evidence Based Information and Resources, as well as Community Resource Connections
A Postpartum Doula Does Not:
Tell you how to parent
Diagnose medical concerns about parent or baby
Babysit for you
Replace your birth partner or support person

Daytime Support - Minimum 3 hour shift
Postpartum needs vary from family to family.
Need someone to fold a load of laundry and prepare some quick snacks?
Hold baby so you can shower or spend time with older siblings?
Need a non-biased person to talk to about your new roles as parents?
Only you know what will lighten your load, and I’m happy to discuss how I can best support you!
Overnight Support

Minimum 3 hour shift at hourly rate ($30 or $25)
Nighttime can be long and lonely when your up with a newborn. The sleep deprivation can really take a toll. I would love to help you get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep while I change, burp, and settle your baby during the night only bringing them to you when it is time to eat. Or offer you some company while you feed baby, bring you snacks, and lend a listening ear. Life with a newborn feels much more tender when you are rested!
